Clap. Stomp. Rock!

Dance & movement songs for kids

Turn a few spare minutes into a family dance break. Choose a rock song, copy a movement, and let your little one join in their own way.

For toddlers and preschoolers, one clap or a little hand wave is a good place to start. These Liana’s World songs pair familiar actions with a rock & roll beat.

A freeze dance with counting

In Clap, Stomp, Jump!, the band counts movements from five down to one and calls out when to freeze. Try clapping together for the first round. Once your child knows the cue, take turns choosing a funny freeze pose.

A familiar song with a rock beat

If You’re Happy and You Know It invites claps, stomps and a hooray. Start with the action your child already enjoys. Wheels on the Bus is another sing-along option: make circles with your hands for the wheels.

Try a simple three-part dance break

  1. Choose one action. Clap, wave, or tap your knees together.
  2. Play one song. Copy the cue, repeat a favorite part, or watch before joining in.
  3. Let your child lead. Turn the music off and copy a movement they choose.

Room to move, or room to sit

A grown-up can clear some space and join the fun. All of these ideas can use seated hand movements. Keep the volume comfortable and stop when your child has had enough.

Keep making music together

Tap the band members to hear drums, bass, guitar and piano. Choose a rhythm for your own dance break.
